The Haverford Township Civic Council serves the community by keeping the public informed on issues and advocating for community improvements. The group works in partnership with local civic associations within the Township, organizes the Haverford Music Festival, and provides seed grants for projects which enhance the quality of life in the Township.
They also publish the Informed Citizens Network Newsletter, which is full of important information and notices about most community events in the Township.
Local response to the national heroin crisis. Educates the public and raises funds to support aftercare for patients returning home from treatment centers.
An affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Provides information and support to people with mental illness and their families and friends, with all services free of charge. Serves Delaware County and Lower Merion Township.
Maintains Nitre Hall, Lawrence Cabin & the Federal School. Tours are open to the public. Contains a library of historic resources and a Colonial Life program for elementary school children. Holds the Haverford Heritage Festival and Holiday House Tours.
Township-appointed commission tasked with researching properties of historical or architectural value. They maintain a list of protected historic properties in the Township and review proposals for renovation or demolition on protected. properties
Local environmental website created by the Haverford Township Civic Council with support from the Haverford EAC (Environmental Advisory Committee) to serve as a clearinghouse of information for residents so that they can make informed choices on sustainable living.
Township-appointed committee that advises the Board of Commissioners and Township Manager regarding environmental problems in Haverford.
Educates residents on ecology and pollution problems, organizes speakers, workshops and Earth Day events.
Managed by the Township's Parks & Recreation Department, the center is Leeds Certified and offers a variety of children's and adult programming related to nature and the environment.
Promotes economic development in the Township and supports local businesses. Hosts Meet & Greet events, job fairs, and workshops for businesses, Shop Small Saturday, Havertown Holiday Festival, Haverfood Festival, Moonlight Dining on the Boulevard, and other shop local events. Manages the Discover Haverford website.
Manages 40+ Township Parks and the new CREC, which contains a fitness center, two gyms, a dance studio, a walking track, and meeting spaces. Has a summer camp and preschool, recreational & environmental programming for children and adults, and runs an adult men's basketball league, an adult co-ed softball league, and trail running programs
